What is Fruitarianism? Firstly, it is quite obvious that this is a kind of vegetarianism, and more rigid: some of the plant products are banned.

Why is fruitarianism useful? Fruits and berries are extremely useful: they contain vitamins C, A, beta-carotene, fiber. Finally, they have a lot of different antioxidants, and, perhaps, they represent the most useful part of these gifts of nature. It is with them associated protective action against atherosclerosis, heart attacks, strokes, many types of cancer. They generally have a systemic protective effect on the body and inhibit aging. This is a direct consequence of their antioxidant effect.

Are There Dangers of a Fruitarian Diet?

Get all the necessary vitamins from fruits and berries can not. For example, a classic complication of a vegetarian diet, such as anemia, is well known. This is a consequence of the almost complete lack of vitamin B12. For people who only eat fruit, this complication is even more typical, since in these fruits there is practically no essential folic acid (there are a lot of it in the forbidden green salads and leafy vegetables). The latter is more important, and therefore the rejection of fish is very harmful. In fruits, there is practically no protein, and it is best obtained from products of animal origin.

When fruit should be avoided

The weakest place of fruit and berries is the amount of sugars, including the most harmful of them – fructose. When you eat only fruits and berries, it is likely that this sweet substance will be busted.

Fruits and other fruits in the diet should be a lot, but food should not consist only of them.

How to make a balanced diet?

The World Health Organization officially recommends eating at least 5-6 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. For example, recently scientists from Great Britain proved that 7 or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day, reduce mortality by 42%, and 5 servings – only by 36%. In some countries, recommendations not to consume 5 servings, but more were already earlier. For example, in Australia, it is advised to eat 5 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruit a day. And it’s really useful: it protects the heart, blood vessels and prevents most types of cancer.

May cause an allergy. Peel is poisonous – contains cyanides.
