\n I like that UltraEdit works on multiple platforms and allows up to 3 installs per license. This allows me to have a
\n copy on each of my machines so I don’t have to juggle where my licenses are activated \/ installed as I change
\n machines I’m working on.<\/p>\n
It’s also nice that it includes a hex editor, allowing me to find hidden or incompatible characters quickly. The
\n large file size manipulation is also a significant bonus since many files I look at are > 50 MB. UE and UE Studio
\n make viewing and modifying these files a breeze. Another feature I used quite a bit some years back is the seamless
\n conversion to multiple file types (I used ASCII <==> IBM EBCDIC daily for quite a while.<\/p>\n
Having all of these features, plus integrated FTP, wordfile support, column edit and other smaller QOL things
\n which I don’t know how to quantify meaningfully but are sorely missed whenever I use other editors.

\n Without a doubt, it’s ability to handle very large data sets. Working with data that sometimes can be several tens

\n be remiss if I didn’t talk about it’s search feature – complete with support for regex as well as being able to

\n Allowing you to virtually view any data you want – any file type – any format. It’s a must-have when your day to day
\n job involves you having to go through files that contain a lot of lines of data. It’s so much better than using
\n something like Excel. It’s ability to recognize the type of data is helpful as well as it can then syntax highlight
\n possible issues.<\/p>\n
The greatest benefit I get is that it’s my go-to editor and viewer of choice. I don’t think about what tool I need

\n The only complaint I have with the suite is the speed of UltraFind. I search very large directories (600GB) for
\n content. Ultrafind is VERY SLOW (20-30 minutes) when searching content. Even though I am running Ultrafind on a 32
\n core machine with solid state disks , Ultrafind only uses 1 core and very little of my disk bandwidth. I expect that
\n if Ultrafind were multithreaded that I could reduce that search time by at least10x. Ultrafind needs to be
\n multithreaded to take advantage of the latest in multicore CPU’s and very high speed (7000MB\/sec) solid state disks

\n I love connecting to the database and seeing what I would do in an SSH connection just using ultra edit. With that,
\n I can open files, edit them, and save them back to the actual server with no FTP needed. This is handy when trying
\n to update a file on the server and having the code highlights and helpful tools.<\/p>\n
I also like that if I am working on the web or an HTML, I can use the tools in ultra edit to see and edit my code
\n right in the ultra edit.<\/p>\n
Lastly, the Ultra COMPARE is the biggest reason I want and continue to get Ultra Edit if I am making changes or
\n putting in an upgrade, I can compare the upgraded file to the customized ones and easily create and integrate my
\n changes. This saves so much time for me.

\nI wear many hats from sys admin, programmer, dba, data prep and analysis. UltraEdit has been my teams go to from
\nit’s early days, UltraEdt32! Key features that sold me were the syntax highlighting, regular expression search and
\nreplace, column editing, hex editing, file compare and support\/speed for very large files, even networked files. It
\nalso understands Linux and DOS line endings. This product rocks!<\/p>\n
I do mostly Perl, Javascript, and CSV editing with syntax. The column editing and sums are really a DBA or data
\nscientist dream. I always use a variety of tools to trim down data I’m working on, but UltraEdit has come to the
\nrescue many times loading, searching and fixing huge tangles of data.<\/p>\n
I feel the UltraEdit team has always struck a balance of staying in their lane yet using integration where needed.
\nNot trying to be all things to all users. Very configurable and tons of features but all to the point.<\/p>\n
Lastly, they are clearly engaged in active and continuous development. Usually, the only support I’ve needed was
\nmigration of the app to the next windows release a couple of times. I have discussed features on a few occasions.
\nThey are always fast, professional and down to earth. A great combination.

\n Overall, UltraEdit provides the level of editing power that professional programmers, web developers, and other
\n technical users need, but they make that power very accessible.<\/p>\n
* It’s as good for editing source code as it is for editing text data files (including CSV).<\/p>\n
* You can specify almost any common programming language; UltraEdit understands that language’s syntax for code
\n formatting and identifying functions, procedures, etc. You can also extend this feature as needed.<\/p>\n
* It includes tools for formatting and editing CSS, JSON and HTML.<\/p>\n
* UltraEdit performs very well when you’re working with huge data files, it’s very speedy!<\/p>\n
* This editor NEVER crashes, even when doing global search\/replace on big files.<\/p>\n

\nThe macro function can lag or hang when processing hundreds or thousands of items. Macros are very powerful and
\nvaluable, but this one area has been an issue for many years for me.

Recommendations to others considering UltraEdit:<\/b>
\nOver time, UltraEdit can be expensive if you keep up with the updates. They now use a subscription model, so if you
\nsee yourself using UltraEdit long-term, consider a lifetime license. It’s pricey upfront, but I’ve been using
\nUltraEdit for almost two decades, and the lifetime license was well worth it. Also, if you have issues, don’t
\nhesitate to contact UltraEdit Support. They are very helpful!<\/p>\n
UltraEdit has so many features, but you can still keep your working environment is clean and lean. It launches
\nquickly, and it doesn’t get in the way.<\/p>\n
One of the best features is its Word Files. These are files that contain keywords and syntax of many programming
\nlanguages. They have an extensive library, and they are fully customizable, so you can create your own if you can’t
\nfind the one you need.

\n I like that UltraEdit works on multiple platforms and allows up to 3 installs per license. This allows me to have a
\n copy on each of my machines so I don’t have to juggle where my licenses are activated \/ installed as I change
\n machines I’m working on.<\/p>\n
It’s also nice that it includes a hex editor, allowing me to find hidden or incompatible characters quickly. The
\n large file size manipulation is also a significant bonus since many files I look at are > 50 MB. UE and UE Studio
\n make viewing and modifying these files a breeze. Another feature I used quite a bit some years back is the seamless
\n conversion to multiple file types (I used ASCII <==> IBM EBCDIC daily for quite a while.<\/p>\n
Having all of these features, plus integrated FTP, wordfile support, column edit and other smaller QOL things
\n which I don’t know how to quantify meaningfully but are sorely missed whenever I use other editors.

\n Since UltraEdit is such an all-encompassing text editing software, it can certainly be overkill for simple
\n every-day tasks. I do believe that with everything this software does, it is a trade-off I am willing to make for

\n content. Ultrafind is VERY SLOW (20-30 minutes) when searching content. Even though I am running Ultrafind on a 32
\n core machine with solid state disks , Ultrafind only uses 1 core and very little of my disk bandwidth. I expect that
\n if Ultrafind were multithreaded that I could reduce that search time by at least10x. Ultrafind needs to be
\n multithreaded to take advantage of the latest in multicore CPU’s and very high speed (7000MB\/sec) solid state disks

I also like that if I am working on the web or an HTML, I can use the tools in ultra edit to see and edit my code

Lastly, the Ultra COMPARE is the biggest reason I want and continue to get Ultra Edit if I am making changes or

\nI wear many hats from sys admin, programmer, dba, data prep and analysis. UltraEdit has been my teams go to from
\nit’s early days, UltraEdt32! Key features that sold me were the syntax highlighting, regular expression search and
\nreplace, column editing, hex editing, file compare and support\/speed for very large files, even networked files. It
\nalso understands Linux and DOS line endings. This product rocks!<\/p>\n
I do mostly Perl, Javascript, and CSV editing with syntax. The column editing and sums are really a DBA or data
\nscientist dream. I always use a variety of tools to trim down data I’m working on, but UltraEdit has come to the
\nrescue many times loading, searching and fixing huge tangles of data.<\/p>\n
I feel the UltraEdit team has always struck a balance of staying in their lane yet using integration where needed.
\nNot trying to be all things to all users. Very configurable and tons of features but all to the point.<\/p>\n
Lastly, they are clearly engaged in active and continuous development. Usually, the only support I’ve needed was
\nmigration of the app to the next windows release a couple of times. I have discussed features on a few occasions.

\nOver time, UltraEdit can be expensive if you keep up with the updates. They now use a subscription model, so if you
\nsee yourself using UltraEdit long-term, consider a lifetime license. It’s pricey upfront, but I’ve been using
\nUltraEdit for almost two decades, and the lifetime license was well worth it. Also, if you have issues, don’t
\nhesitate to contact UltraEdit Support. They are very helpful!<\/p>\n
UltraEdit has so many features, but you can still keep your working environment is clean and lean. It launches
\nquickly, and it doesn’t get in the way.<\/p>\n
One of the best features is its Word Files. These are files that contain keywords and syntax of many programming
\nlanguages. They have an extensive library, and they are fully customizable, so you can create your own if you can’t
\nfind the one you need.

\n content. Ultrafind is VERY SLOW (20-30 minutes) when searching content. Even though I am running Ultrafind on a 32
\n core machine with solid state disks , Ultrafind only uses 1 core and very little of my disk bandwidth. I expect that
\n if Ultrafind were multithreaded that I could reduce that search time by at least10x. Ultrafind needs to be
\n multithreaded to take advantage of the latest in multicore CPU’s and very high speed (7000MB\/sec) solid state disks

\nhesitate to contact UltraEdit Support. They are very helpful!<\/p>\n
